Issued 3:00 AM AST 18 January 2026 Today Tonight and Monday At 3:00 a.m. AST today trough located from Georges Bank to the
Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 3:30 p.m. AST today departing trough located east of the Marine
District.

At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight intensifying low 1002 mb located southwest
of Georges Bank.
By 3:30 p.m. AST Monday low 976 mb located east of the Marine
District.

At 3:00 a.m. AST today ridge located over New England.
By 3:30 p.m. AST today ridge located over the central Marine
District.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:43 AM AST 18 January 2026 A trough of low pressure extending from Georges Bank to the Gulf of
St. Lawrence will move to lie east of the marine district by this
afternoon. A ridge of high pressure over New England will move across
the marine district today and tonight. Strong to gale force
southwesterlies over southeastern waters will diminish today as the
trough moves off to the east and the ridge moves in.

A developing low pressure system will approach the marine district
from the southwest today. The low will intensify as it tracks
northeastward to the south of Nova Scotia tonight and Monday morning.
Winds will increase to strong to gale force northeasterlies north of
the low's track and gale to near storm force southwesterlies south of
the low's track.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, southwestern shore, LaHave Bank, West Scotian Slope,
eastern shore, Sable, East Scotian Slope, Fourchu, Banquereau,
Laurentian Fan and Cabot Strait.
