By 10:00 a.m. NST Tuesday deepening low 968 mb located east of
Funk Island Bank.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:52 AM NST 8 December 2025 A low pressure system over Nova Scotia will rapidlyIntensify as it approaches today, crossing Eastern Newfoundland this
evening and Funk Island Bank overnight. The low will continue to
deepen as it pulls away to the northeast on Tuesday. Gale force
southerlies to northeasterlies will develop ahead of the low then
shift to gale to storm force southwesterlies to northwesterlies in
its wake. Hurricane force northwesterlies can be expected Tuesday
morning over Funk Island Bank and winds will briefly approach
hurricane force over parts of the South Coast, East Coast, and
Northern Grand Banks tonight. Winds will diminish to strong to gale
force westerlies to northwesterlies as the low pulls away.
Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Funk Island Bank. Storm warnings are in effect for
Southwest Coast, South Coast, East Coast, and the Grand Banks.
Gale warnings are in effect for Gulf - Port au Port, Northeast Coast
- Cape St. John and south, and Belle Isle Bank.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all waters except the Southern Grand Banks.
