Issued 8:00 PM NST 25 December 2024 Tonight and Thursday At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight low 986 mb located west of Greenland.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Thursday departing low 990 mb located over the
coast of Greenland.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight trough located on a line east-west over
Laurentian Fan.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Thursday trough located on a line
northeast-southwest over the Grand Banks.

At 8:00 p.m. NST tonight ridge located on a line east-west over
Newfoundland.
By 8:00 p.m. NST Thursday ridge located on a line east-west over
Belle Isle Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:54 PM NST 25 December 2024 A low pressure system west of Greenland will track eastward over the
coast of Greenland tonight. Meanwhile, a ridge of high pressure over
Newfoundland will begin to slowly drift northward. Strong to gale
force southwesterlies over northern waters between these two features
will diminish by Thursday morning.

A trough of low pressure over the Laurentian Fan will track
northeastward to lie over the Grand Banks by Thursday afternoon.
Strong to gale force east to southeasterlies are expected east of the
trough, with strong to gale force north to northeasterlies to its
north and west.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, South Coast, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and
south, Belle Isle Bank, and the Southern Grand Banks.
