Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:30 PM NDT 17 October 2026 Tonight and Sunday At 3:30 p.m. NDT today deepening low 983 mb located over the
northeastern Strait of Belle Isle.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Sunday departing low 981 mb located south of
Greenland.

At 8:00 p.m. NDT tonight trough located over northern Quebec.
By 8:00 p.m. NDT Sunday trough located over Funk Island Bank.

At 3:30 p.m. NDT today departing ridge located northeast of Belle
Isle Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:56 AM NDT 17 October 2026 A low pressure system over the Quebec Lower North Shore will quickly
track northeastward and move to lie south of Greenland by overnight
tonight. Strong to gale force southerlies to southeasterlies ahead of
the low will shift to gale to storm force westerlies to
southwesterlies as it passes through the district today.

A trough of low pressure will approach from the northwest tonight and
track southeastward across the district on Sunday. Strong to gale
force northwesterlies are expected to develop in the wake of the
trough.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Coast, East Coast, Belle Isle Bank, and Funk Island Bank.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
