By 8:00 p.m. NDT tonight departing trough located east of Funk
Island Bank.
At 3:00 a.m. NDT Tuesday deepening low 990 mb located over western
Labrador.
By 8:00 p.m. NDT Tuesday low 979 mb located northeast of Belle
Isle Bank.
At 10:00 a.m. NDT today ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Tuesday departing ridge located east of the
Marine District.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:55 AM NDT 9 March 2026 A trough of low pressure over Newfoundland will continue to trackeastward to lie east of the marine district by this evening. Strong
to gale force southwesterlies will continue over the eastern half of
the district today ahead of the trough.
Meanwhile, a deepening low pressure system over Western Labrador
tonight will track across Northern Belle Isle Bank on Tuesday before
moving northeast of the region by Tuesday evening. Gale to storm
force southwesterlies ahead of the low tonight will veer to gale to
storm force northwesterlies on Tuesday as it passes.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Strait of Belle Isle, Northeast Coast, Belle Isle Bank and Funk
Island Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for Gulf waters and Northern
Grand Banks.
Marine interests are also advised that a freezing spray warning is in
effect for Belle Isle Bank.
