Wind southwest 55 knots and locally gusts to 65 along the coast. Wind becoming northwest 55 to 65 late overnight and locally gusts to 80 along the coast overnight and Thursday morning. Wind becoming northwest 45 to 55 Thursday afternoon.

Rain changing to snow this evening and ending Thursday afternoon. Visibility 1 mile or less in precipitation.

East Coast

Issued 7:47 PM NST 14 November 2018 Higher than normal water levels are expected or occurring.

A powerful low pressure system over northwestern Funk Island Bank will continue to move slowly eastward tonight.

Higher than normal water levels due to storm surge combined with large waves and pounding surf are expected overnight and Thursday morning from White Bay to Cape Race. Conditions will be at their worst near high tide on Thursday morning. Beach erosion and damage to coastal infrastructure are possible, especially along northwest facing coastlines.

Water levels are expected to gradually subside Thursday afternoon and into Thursday evening.

northwestern Funk Island Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Thursday low 944 mb located east of Funk Island
Bank.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:48 PM NST 14 November 2018 A powerful low pressure system over Northwestern Funk Island Bank
will continue to intensify as it moves to lie east funk island
Thursday morning. Gale to storm force northeasterlies north of the
low increase to storm to hurricane force west to northwesterlies
elsewhere.

Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for East Coast, Northeast Coast, Funk Island Bank, Northern
Grand Banks, and Southeastern Grand Banks. Storm warnings are in
effect for all remaining waters.

Marine interests are further advised that a high water level warning
is in effect for East Coast and Northeast Coast.
