Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:00 AM AST 24 November 2017 Today Tonight and Saturday At 3:00 a.m. AST today trough located on a line northeast-southwest
over the St. Lawrence River.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight dissipating trough located on a line
north-south over eastern Newfoundland.

At 10:00 a.m. AST today ridge located on a line north-south over
New England.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight ridge from 1020 mb high located over East
Scotian Slope extending northward.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:34 AM AST 24 November 2017 A trough of low pressure over the St Lawrence River will pass north
of the marine district by this evening. Moderate to strong westerlies
are forecast over much of the district today. These winds will
strengthen briefly to strong to gale force westerlies over Gulf
waters today.

Marine interests are advised that a gale warning is in effect for
Anticosti.


Outlook for the start of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery...

Sunday..Winds southwesterly 15 to knots increasing to westerly
25 to 30 knots by the afternoon.

Monday..Winds westerly 25 knots.

Tuesday..Winds northwesterly 15 to 20 knots backing to southwesterly
25 knots in the afternoon.
