Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 PM NST 22 January 2026 Tonight and Friday At 4:00 p.m. NST today low 981 mb located south of Greenland.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Friday low 979 mb located over the northern East
Labrador Sea.

At 4:00 p.m. NST today ridge located on a line north-south over
western Labrador.
By 9:30 a.m. NST Friday dissipating ridge located on a line
northwest-southeast over central Labrador.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:43 PM NST 22 January 2026 A low pressure system south of Greenland will begin to track westward
to lie over the East Labrador Sea by early Friday morning. Meanwhile,
a ridge of high pressure over Western Labrador will track eastward.
Strong to gale force northwesterlies are expected across most waters
between these two features. Winds will diminish over southern waters
by tonight but are expected to persist through Friday over northern
waters as a result of the low.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
North Labrador Coast - north of Saglek and the Labrador Sea.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all regions with open water except East Labrador Sea.
