Issued 10:00 AM NST 24 January 2021 Today Tonight and Monday At 10:00 a.m. NST today low 973 mb located over southeastern BelleIsle Bank.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Monday low 987 mb located over western
Newfoundland.
At 10:00 a.m. NST today intensifying low 978 mb located south of
Laurentian Fan.
By 10:00 a.m. NST Monday low 958 mb located east of the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:51 AM NST 24 January 2021 A low pressure system over Belle Isle Bank will move westwards todayto lie over the Great Northern Peninsula tonight. The low will then
track southwestward and weaken on Monday. Gale to storm force
northerlies to northeasterlies can be expected ahead of the low with
strong to gale force westerlies to southwesterlies to its south.
Winds will diminish over most waters overnight into Monday as the low
weakens.
A rapidly intensifying second low pressure system south of Laurentian
Fan will track eastwards to the south of the marine district today
before turning northward to lie east of the Grand Banks on Monday.
Strong to gale force northerlies to northeasterlies will develop over
southern waters today as the low passes. Winds will diminish
overnight tonight in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Belle Isle Bank. Gale warnings are in effect for Strait of Belle
Isle, Gulf waters, Funk Island Bank and Southeastern Grand Banks -
southeastern half.
