Issued 3:00 AM AST 18 December 2018 Today Tonight and Wednesday At 3:00 a.m. AST today low 978 mb located south of Cape Breton
Island.
By 3:30 p.m. AST today low 972 mb located over Cabot Strait.

At 10:00 a.m. AST Wednesday departing low 972 mb located northeast
of Newfoundland.

At 8:00 p.m. AST Wednesday approaching ridge located on a line
north-south over New England.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:46 AM AST 18 December 2018 An intensifying low pressure system located between Sable Island and
Cape Breton at forecast time will track slowly northeastward into
Cabot Strait this morning then drift eastward toward Southern
Newfoundland tonight. Gale force easterlies just ahead of this low
will become strong then gale force west to northwesterlies across the
entire district in its wake today. Winds are expected to reach storm
force over the Gulf-Magdalen waters later on Tuesday. Cold air
behind this system will give freezing spray to Anticosti tonight and
Tuesday with a risk of freezing spray to the remaining Gulf waters.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Gulf-Magdalen. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining marine
waters. A freezing spray warning is in effect for Anticosti.

Marine interests are also advised that higher than normal water
levels and heavy pounding surf are expected today along the Îles de
la Madeleine, as well as north to northwest-facing coastlines of
Western Cape Breton, Eastern Prince Edward Island and Northern Nova
Scotia.
