Issued 8:00 PM AST 4 January 2025 Tonight and Sunday At 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 955 mb located southeast of LaurentianFan.
By 10:00 a.m. AST Sunday low 949 mb located south of the Avalon
Peninsula.
At 8:00 p.m. AST Sunday quasi-stationary low 954 mb located near
the Avalon Peninsula.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:25 AM AST 5 January 2025 An intense low pressure system over the Southwestern Grand Banks willmove to lie over the Avalon Peninsula today and then stall. Gale to
hurricane force northwest winds in its wake will slowly subside
through the period.
Marine interests are advised that a hurricane force wind warning is
in effect for Laurentian Fan - eastern half. Storm warnings are in
effect for eastern shore - eastern half, Sable - eastern half,
Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan - western half and Cabot Strait.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except Fundy and
Grand Manan.
Additionally, freezing spray warnings are in effect for Fundy, Grand
Manan, Lurcher, Browns Bank, southwestern shore, LaHave Bank, eastern
shore - western half, Sable - western half, Northumberland Strait,
and Chaleur-Miscou.
