Marine Weather Statement

Issued 7:51 PM AST 22 January 2019 A low pressure system near the Cabot Strait and an approaching ridge
of high pressure will continue to generate strong to gale force
northwesterly winds and freezing spray for the majority of the marine
district this evening. This low pressure system is forecast to track
southeastward and become a trough as it tracks over Banquereau.
Gale to storm force northwesterly winds are expected to develop over
Western Gulf-Magdalen and Eastern Northumberland Strait this evening
prior to the low tracking eastward later this evening. Winds over
western and northern waters will diminish overnight as the low moves
east and the ridge continues to build in.

On Wednesday the ridge will track across the marine district. Late in
the day a low will approach from the Great Lakes, giving strong to
possibly gale force southwesterlies to western waters.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Northumberland Strait - eastern half and Gulf-Magdalen - western
half. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except
Fundy and southwestern shore.

Freezing spray warnings are in effect for all waters except Georges
Bank, West Scotian Slope, Laurentian Fan, Northumberland Strait -
