Issued 3:00 AM AST 23 January 2026 Today Tonight and Saturday At 3:00 a.m. AST today cold front located northwest of the MarineDistrict.
By 3:00 a.m. AST Saturday cold front located from Browns Bank to
Laurentian Fan.
At 10:00 a.m. AST Saturday departing cold front located over
southeastern Laurentian Fan.
At 8:00 p.m. AST Saturday approaching ridge located over the
Great Lakes.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 2:25 AM AST 23 January 2026 Strong westerly winds over eastern waters will diminish this morningas a trough of low pressure moves farther away from the marine
district. A cold front to the northwest will move southeastward
across the marine district later today and tonight. Winds will
increase to strong to gale force westerlies or southwesterlies ahead
of the cold front then will veer to gale force northwesterlies in its
wake.
In the wake of the cold front, the coldest outbreak of Arctic air so
far this season is expected on Saturday. Freezing spray is expected
for all waters except possibly the extreme southern parts of the
Scotian Slope waters. Severe freezing spray is expected over ice free
areas of the Western and Northern Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Marine interests are advised that gale and freezing spray warnings
are in effect for all marine areas.
