Issued 3:30 PM ADT 18 April 2024 Tonight and Friday At 3:30 p.m. ADT today quasi-stationary ridge located over the
Maritimes.

At 3:30 p.m. ADT today low 992 mb located near the Avalon Peninsula.
By 10:00 a.m. ADT Friday departing low 1004 mb located over the
eastern Grand Banks.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:30 PM ADT 18 April 2024 A deepening low pressure system near the Avalon Peninsula will bring
strong to gale force northerly winds to eastern waters tonight.
Winds will diminish on Friday as the low weakens and begins tracking
away from the region.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
Fourchu, Banquereau, Laurentian Fan and Cabot Strait.

Outlook for the start-up of the eastern shore lobster fishery.

Thursday..Winds northerly 25 knots. Sea state 1 to 2 metres.

Friday..Winds north 20 to 25 knots diminishing to north 15 in the
afternoon and to light in the evening. Sea state 1 to 2 metres
diminishing to 1 or less late in the day.

Saturday..Southerly 10 to 15 knots increasing to 15 to 20 in the
afternoon. Seas near 1 metre.
