Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:17 PM AST 22 January 2019 A low pressure system east of Anticosti and an approaching ridge of
high pressure will continue to generate strong to gale force
northwesterly winds and freezing spray for the majority of the marine
district late this afternoon and this evening. This low pressure
system is forecast to track southeastward to lie near the Cabot
Strait by this evening prior to departing eastward throughout the
remainder of the period. As the low approaches the Cabot Strait this
evening, storm force westerly winds are expected to develop over
Western Gulf-Magdalen and Eastern Northumberland Strait. Winds over
western and northern waters will diminish overnight as the low moves
east and the ridge continues to build in.

On Wednesday the ridge will track across the marine district. Late in
the day a low will approach from the Great Lakes, giving strong to
possibly gale force southwesterlies to western waters.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Northumberland Strait - eastern half and Gulf-Magdalen - western
half. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters except
Fundy and southwestern shore.

Freezing spray warnings are in effect for all waters except Georges
Bank, Laurentian Fan, Northumberland Strait - western half, and
Chaleur - Miscou.
