Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 3:00 AM AST 19 January 2019 Today Tonight and Sunday At 3:00 a.m. AST today trough located on a line north-south over
the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight departing trough located east of the
Marine District.

At 3:00 a.m. AST Sunday deepening low 995 mb located southeast of
the Great Lakes.
By 8:00 p.m. AST Sunday low 986 mb located over the Gulf of Maine.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 2:47 AM AST 19 January 2019 A trough of low pressure currently over the Gulf of St. Lawrence will
continue to move eastward across the district today. Strong to gale
force southerly winds ahead of the trough will veer to strong to gale
force northwesterly winds in its wake. Widespread freezing spray is
also expected today as a very cold airmass settles over the region.

A large low pressure system will reach the maritime waters by Sunday
morning. Gale to potentially storm force east to southerly winds will
spread throughout the marine district on Sunday.

Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for all
marine waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Fundy, Grand Manan, Lurcher, southwestern shore, eastern
shore, Sable, Fourchu, Banquereau, Cabot Strait, Northumberland
Strait, Gulf-Magdalen and Anticosti.

In addition, higher than normal water levels combined with heavy
pounding surf are expected along parts of the Atlantic Coast during
high tide Sunday night and Monday.
