Watches (In effect)

Squall watch in effect

Lake Winnipeg - north basin

Issued 2:34 PM CDT 07 June 2026 Conditions are favourable for the development of squalls with wind gusts up to 50 knots, frequent lightning, hail and poor to very poor visibility in thunderstorms heavy at times.

Severe thunderstorms are predicted late this afternoon and tonight over southern Manitoba, which may produce very strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Poor to very poor visibility may contribute to voyage delays and make marine navigation hazardous. Large hail can damage vessels and cause injury. Mariners are advised to prepare for potential squalls. Vulnerable vessels are most at risk and should seek safe harbour if underway. Delay travel or if underway, reduce speed or return to port if safe to do so.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. For more information monitor Canadian Coast Guard radio or Weatheradio stations.
