Issued 4:00 PM NST 7 January 2025 Tonight and Wednesday At 4:00 p.m. NST today low 979 mb located near the Avalon Peninsula.By 4:00 a.m. NST Wednesday quasi-stationary trough located over
Newfoundland.
At 4:00 p.m. NST today deepening low 974 mb located south of
Nova Scotia.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Wednesday deepening low 957 mb located east of
the Grand Banks.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 3:52 PM NST 7 January 2025 A low pressure system near the Avalon Peninsula will weaken into astationary trough over Newfoundland tonight. Strong to gale force
east to northeasterlies will continue over most waters north of the
weakening low and trough.
Meanwhile, a rapidly intensifying low pressure system south of the
Grand Banks is forecast to further deepen as it tracks east of the
Grand Banks on Wednesday. Gale force east to northeasterlies are
expected to strengthen as the deepening low approaches the district
from the south.
Marine interests are advised that gale warnings are in effect for
South Labrador Sea, Northwest Labrador Sea - southeastern half, and
East Labrador Sea - southern half.
