Wind north 40 to 50 knots becoming northwest 35 to 45 Thursday morning then diminishing to northwest 25 to 35 Thursday evening.

Snow. Visibility 1 mile or less in snow.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Over open water freezing spray over western sections late this afternoon and this evening. Freezing spray overnight and Thursday except severe freezing spray over western sections overnight and Thursday morning.

Temperatures minus 8 to zero falling to minus 12 to minus 4 overnight.

Tonight and Thursday. Outside the ice edge seas 7 to 9 metres subsiding to 5 to 7 near noon Thursday and to 3 to 5 Thursday evening.

Unusual presence of old ice in the northwestern section today and continuing Thursday.

Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 PM NDT 2 April 2025 Tonight and Thursday At 4:00 p.m. NDT today intensifying low 972 mb located over the
South Labrador Sea.
By 4:00 p.m. NDT Thursday low 989 mb located east of the East
Labrador Sea.

At 4:00 p.m. NDT Thursday building ridge located on a line
northwest-southeast over Labrador Coast.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:52 PM NDT 2 April 2025 An intense low pressure system over the South Labrador Sea will
remain nearly stationary tonight, then gradually track northwards on
Thursday. Storm to hurricane force north to northwesterlies this
evening will diminish to strong to gale force northwesterlies
overnight and on Thursday.

Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for South Labrador Coast, Mid Labrador Coast, and South
Labrador Sea. Storm warnings are in effect for all remaining waters
except Lake Melville.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Labrador Sea.
