Wind northeast 35 to 45 knots becoming north 40 to 50 near noon then becoming northwest 35 to 45 Thursday morning. Wind diminishing to northwest 25 to 35 Thursday evening.

Snow. Visibility 1 mile or less in snow.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Over open water freezing spray over western sections today and this evening. Freezing spray overnight and Thursday except severe freezing spray over western sections overnight and Thursday morning.

Temperatures minus 8 to zero falling to minus 12 to minus 4 overnight.

Today Tonight and Thursday. Outside the ice edge seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 5 this morning and to 7 to 9 early this evening. Seas subsiding to 5 to 7 near noon Thursday and to 3 to 5 Thursday evening.

Strong ice pressure in the pack ice in the western section developing Wednesday afternoon. Unusual presence of old ice in the extreme northwestern section today and continuing Wednesday.

Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 4:00 AM NDT 2 April 2025 Today Tonight and Thursday At 4:00 a.m. NDT today intensifying low 980 mb located over Belle
Isle Bank.
By 4:00 a.m. NDT Thursday low 974 mb located southeast of the East
Labrador Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:54 AM NDT 2 April 2025 An intense low pressure system over the Belle Isle Bank will further
deepen as it moves northward and stalls over the South Labrador Sea
today. Strong to gale force east to northeasterlies ahead of the low
will increase to storm to hurricane force north to northwesterlies
today. Winds will diminish to strong to gale force northwesterlies
overnight and on Thursday.

Marine interests are advised that hurricane force wind warnings are
in effect for South Labrador Coast, Mid Labrador Coast, and South
Labrador Sea. Storm warnings are in effect for all remaining waters
except Lake Melville.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Labrador Sea.
