Wind east 25 knots increasing to northeast 35 to 45 this afternoon except northeast 45 to 55 over southern sections tonight. Wind becoming northwest 35 to 45 late overnight then diminishing to northwest 25 to 35 Saturday evening.

Snow beginning near noon changing to flurries Saturday morning. Visibility as low as 1 mile in snow.

Risk of freezing spray late this morning.

Temperatures minus 4 rising to zero this afternoon.

Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 9:30 AM NST 6 December 2024 Today Tonight and Saturday At 9:30 a.m. NST today low 973 mb located over the Quebec Lower
North Shore.
By 4:00 a.m. NST Saturday low 963 mb located over the South
Labrador Sea.

At 9:30 a.m. NST today departing ridge located east of the Marine
District.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:22 AM NST 6 December 2024 An intense low pressure system over the Quebec Lower North Shore will
track northeastward across Labrador to lie over the South Labrador
Sea by Saturday morning. Gale to storm force southeast to
northeasterlies ahead of the low will shift to strong to gale force
northwest to southwesterlies in its wake.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
all waters except Lake Melville, where a gale warning is in effect.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for Lake Melville and South Labrador Coast.
