Marine Weather StatementIssued 3:58 PM PDT 23 October 2018 Today marks the end of an extended high pressure regime on the BC
coast and the beginning of a much more stormy fall pattern.
A frontal system just off west coast of Vancouver Island this
afternoon will move through the South Coast this evening. Strong to
gale force southeasterlies ahead of the front will shift to moderate
to strong westerlies behind it.
On Wednesday, a deep low and a much more intense front will be
affecting the coast. The system will bring widespread storm force
winds through all the northern and central waters with wind speeds
approaching hurricane force in many areas. Over the far south, the
system will bring strong to gale force southeast winds by Wednesday
