Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 9:30 PM PDT 19 October 2018 Tonight and Saturday At 9:30 p.m. PDT tonight dissipating cold front located on a line
north-south over Cape Scott.

At 5:00 a.m. PDT Saturday quasi-stationary ridge located on a line
northeast-southwest over Queen Charlotte Sound.

At 11:00 p.m. PDT Saturday building ridge located over BC interior.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:25 PM PDT 19 October 2018 A weak cold front across Queen Charlotte Sound will dissipate near
Cape Scott tonight. On Saturday, a ridge of high pressure will build
over Queen Charlotte Sound. The next frontal system will be
approaching the northern offshore waters Saturday night.

Moderate to strong southeast winds are forecast near Northern
Vancouver Island this evening ahead of the cold front until it
dissipates. A band of moderate to strong northerlies will develop
behind the front off the northwestern coast of Vancouver Island
tonight and will persist through Saturday. Light to moderate
Variable winds will prevail near the ridge. Moderate to strong south
or southwest winds will continue over the far north and the northern
offshore waters with gales expected over the northern part of Bowie.
