Wind northwest 25 knots diminishing to northwest 15 to 20 early this evening and to variable 10 to 15 near midnight. Wind increasing to southeast 25 Tuesday morning and to southeast 35 to 45 Tuesday afternoon. Wind increasing to east 45 to 55 Tuesday evening.

Flurries ending near midnight. Snow Tuesday becoming rain or snow. Visibility 1 mile or less in snow.

Freezing spray warning in effect.

Over open water freezing spray today and this evening. Freezing spray over northern sections Tuesday.

Temperatures minus 16 to minus 8 rising to minus 6 to plus 2 Tuesday evening.

Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 9:30 AM NDT 16 March 2026 Today Tonight and Tuesday At 9:30 a.m. NDT today trough located southeast of Labrador Sea.
By 4:00 p.m. NDT today departing trough located east of Belle
Isle Bank.

At 4:00 p.m. NDT today deepening low 985 mb located over southern
Ontario.
By 4:00 p.m. NDT Tuesday approaching low 955 mb located over
northern Quebec.

At 9:30 a.m. NDT today ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over Labrador.
By 9:30 a.m. NDT Tuesday ridge located on a line northwest-southeast
over the East Labrador Sea.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 9:19 AM NDT 16 March 2026 An intense trough of low pressure southeast of the Labrador Sea will
depart to the southeast today. Strong to gale force northwesterlies
behind the trough will diminish today as the low departs.

Meanwhile, a deepening low pressure system will approach the district
on Tuesday. Gale to storm force southerly to easterly winds will
develop over all waters ahead of this system.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
North Labrador Coast - north of Saglek, Northwest Labrador Sea, and
East Labrador Sea. Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining
waters.

Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for the Labrador Sea.
