Issued 4:00 PM NST 20 January 2026 Tonight and Wednesday At 4:00 p.m. NST today low 1000 mb located over the North LabradorCoast.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Wednesday trough located on a line east-west over
the North Labrador Coast.
At 4:00 p.m. NST today deepening low 994 mb located over central
Labrador.
By 4:00 p.m. NST Wednesday low 972 mb located over the South
Labrador Sea.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 4:00 PM NST 20 January 2026 A low pressure system over the North Labrador Coast will drift westand lie over Ungava Bay overnight tonight, then weaken into a trough
as it slowly moves south on Wednesday. Strong to gale force
northeasterlies will spread over northern waters north of the low
tonight.
Meanwhile, a second low pressure system over Central Labrador will
continue to deepen as it tracks northeastward before lying over the
South Labrador Sea by tonight. Strong to gale force northeasterlies
will develop ahead of this low with gale to storm force westerlies to
northwesterlies developing in its wake.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
South Labrador Coast, Mid Labrador Coast, and South Labrador Sea.
Gale warnings are in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are also advised that freezing spray warnings are in
effect for all regions with open water except East Labrador Sea.
