Issued 04:15 AM CST 01 February 2023 A prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected.Temperatures in the low minus twenties to minus thirties combined with 10 to 20 km/h winds are producing wind chill values near minus 40 this morning in parts of southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
Wind chills will moderate during the day today but will return and sprawl to other areas of southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan tonight.
Wind chills are expected to improve by Friday.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
