An upper low will move to lie over Vancouver Island this morning, bringing a cool and unstable airmass to the area. This airmass provides favourable conditions for the formation of waterspouts over the Strait of Georgia and the mouth of Howe Sound this morning.

Waterspouts sometimes appear as funnel clouds with swirling water visible near the surface.

Issued 4:00 AM PDT 6 June 2026 Today Tonight and Sunday At 4:00 a.m. PDT today weakening low 1013 mb located over
southeastern Explorer.
By 8:00 a.m. PDT today dissipating low located over Vancouver
Island.

At 4:00 a.m. PDT today building ridge located west of Bowie.
By 4:00 p.m. PDT today ridge located on a line north-south over
Haida Gwaii.

At 4:00 p.m. PDT today approaching frontal system located west of
the offshore waters.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:51 AM PDT 6 June 2026 A low pressure system will move to lie over Vancouver Island this
morning. This system will provide conditions that are favourable for
the formation of waterspouts over the Strait of Georgia and the mouth
of Howe Sound this morning.

A frontal system moving in on Sunday will generate southerly gales
Sunday afternoon over northern and central waters. These southerly
gales will diminish early Monday morning as the frontal system moves
onto the mainland coast and dissipates.
