Issued 9:30 PM PST 24 February 2021 Tonight and Thursday At 9:30 p.m. PST tonight low 982 mb located over the Gulf of Alaska.By 4:00 a.m. PST Thursday low 988 mb located over the southern
Alaska panhandle.
At 9:30 p.m. PST tonight departing frontal system located over
the Central Coast.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:24 PM PST 24 February 2021 A deep area of low pressure over the Gulf of Alaska will reach theSouthern Alaskan Panhandle by early Thursday morning, then move
inland. A frontal system associated with this strong low, is crossing
the Central Coast this evening.
Gale to storm force southeasterly winds will continue ahead of this
strong system and rapidly switch to gale to storm force westerlies in
its wake.
Once the strong and persistent west to northwesterly flow is
established, significant wave heights of 10 to 14 metres are expected
to develop over northern offshore waters tonight, then spread towards
Haida Gwaii by Thursday morning. Waves will ease somewhat through the
day on Thursday.
