northeast-southwest over southern Vancouver Island.
By 9:30 p.m. PDT tonight departing cold front located on a line
northeast-southwest over the Lower Mainland.

At 4:00 p.m. PDT today trough located over Haida Gwaii.
By 4:00 p.m. PDT Wednesday departing trough located over southern
Vancouver Island.

At 4:00 a.m. PDT Wednesday ridge located over Pacific Ocean.
By 9:30 p.m. PDT Wednesday high 1030 mb located west of Explorer.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:50 PM PDT 14 April 2026 The cold front in continuing to track through southern waters
bringing a brief period of marginal northwesterly gales into tonight
over West Coast Vancouver Island South, Johnstone Strait, and Juan de
Fuca Strait.

Northwesterly gales are expected over the offshore waters into
Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure strengthens over the Pacific
Ocean. As the ridge of high pressure approaches the British Columbia
coast on Wednesday, northwesterly gales can be expected Wednesday
afternoon and evening over West Coast Vancouver Island South.

Additionally, the cold front is bringing the risk of thunderstorms to
portions of the southern waters into this evening. A trough behind
the cold front, will bring a risk of thunderstorms to the central and
northern waters tonight, and a risk of thunderstorms to the southern
waters Wednesday morning and afternoon.
