northeast-southwest over northwestern Queen Charlotte Sound.
By 4:00 a.m. PDT Tuesday dissipating frontal system located on a
line northeast-southwest over eastern Queen Charlotte Sound.

At 4:00 p.m. PDT today ridge located on a line northeast-southwest
over central Vancouver Island.
By 4:00 p.m. PDT today ridge located on a line north-south over
northern Vancouver Island.

At 4:00 a.m. PDT Tuesday deepening trough located over Bowie.
By 4:00 p.m. PDT Tuesday low located near Haida Gwaii.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 3:49 PM PDT 31 August 2026 A deepening low pressure system from the Gulf of Alaska will track
south to Haida Gwaii on Tuesday and continue south to Explorer on
Wednesday. Gale force southerly winds are expected ahead of the
system over waters west of Vancouver Island, central waters and
Hecate Strait beginning Tuesday afternoon. Gale force northerlies are
expected over the offshore waters in the wake of the low Tuesday
evening.

This is the first fall storm of the season. There is still a measure
of uncertainty in its exact intensity and track. The waters impacted
and the strength of the winds may change in the coming forecast
updates as the track of the low evolves.
