Wind southeast 35 to 45 knots veering to south 25 to 35 this afternoon then becoming south 25 late this evening. Wind increasing to southeast 35 to 45 late overnight then becoming southeast 40 to 50 near noon Saturday. Wind diminishing to northwest 25 to 35 Saturday evening.

Scattered showers changing to rain overnight then to showers Saturday afternoon.

Issued 10:30 AM PST 3 February 2023 Today Tonight and Saturday At 10:30 a.m. PST today frontal system located from Hecate Strait
to Explorer.
By 10:00 p.m. PST tonight dissipating frontal system located on
a line northwest-southeast over Cape Scott.

At 10:30 a.m. PST today low 994 mb located over southern Explorer.
By 2:00 p.m. PST today low 996 mb located near Tofino.

At 9:30 p.m. PST tonight frontal system located off Explorer.
By 10:30 a.m. PST Saturday frontal system located over Haida Gwaii.

Marine Weather Statement

Issued 10:10 AM PST 3 February 2023 A frontal system extending from the North Coast to Explorer is
producing widespread southeasterly gales to the east of the system,
with an embedded swath of southeasterly storms from Queen Charlotte
Sound to the headlands of Vancouver Island today.

Winds over the west coast of Vancouver Island will increase to storm
force southeasterlies late this morning as another low approaches.
Winds will also increase to southeasterly gale force across the inner
South Coast waters today.

Winds will ease this evening as both systems move inland, though
there will be a brief period of southwest gales across West Coast
Vancouver Island South and the mouth of Juan de Fuca Strait this
evening in the wake of the low.

Another frontal system will approach the BC coast Saturday morning
producing widespread gale to storm force southeasterly winds. This
system will cross Haida Gwaii Saturday evening with northwest gales
developing in its wake.
