Heavy snow and blowing snow continue. What: - Challenging driving conditions due to rapidly accumulating snow. - 20 cm of snow additional snow is expected through early Sunday. - Near-zero visibility in blowing snow. Where: South Klondike Highway and Haines Road. When: Tonight, and into Sunday. Remarks: Heavy snow will combine with strong outflow winds to create blowing snow. Snowfall rates will remain high while increasing outflow winds will deteriorate driving conditions even further overnight. Conditions are expected to be the poorest near White Pass and south of Chilkat Pass, and improve slightly over the northern sections of the highways towards Carcross and Haines Junction. Travellers are advised to take extra caution, or delay any unnecessary travel. Travel will likely be challenging. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Road closures are possible. Consider postponing non-essential travel and outdoor activities until conditions improve. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
