A multi-day episode of very cold wind chills continues. Wind chill values between minus 45 and minus 50 will occur tonight. Temperature and wind chills will moderate slightly Friday afternoon, however wind chill values between minus 45 and minus 50 will return Friday tonight. A slow warming trend will begin this weekend. Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter. Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside. Make sure your home is well-insulated, the heating system is working efficiently and cracks and drafts are sealed. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
