There is also a risk of a tornado. Nautical activities may be hazardous due to sudden, severe wind gusts over bodies of water. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
