Weather Alerts for: Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
Warnings
- Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
A multi-day snow squall event through early this week. What: Heavy lake effect snow with accumulations of 30 to 60 cm. Locally higher amounts are possible, especially near Lake Huron and over the Bruce Peninsula. Reduced visibility in heavy snow and local blowing snow. When: Tonight through Wednesday morning. Additional information: Heavy lake effect snow off Lake Huron will lift northward and penetrate further inland tonight through Monday as winds become westerly. The most significant lake effect snow band is expected to become focused over Bruce County and Grey County Monday into Tuesday. Lake effect snow is expected to persist into Wednesday morning before weakening and shifting northward to be confined mainly over the Bruce Peninsula. There is considerable uncertainty in the exact placement of the heaviest lake effect snow bands. In addition, by Monday westerly winds gusting 50 to 60 km/h will result in local blowing snow, especially for exposed areas near Lake Huron. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
