Snow, gusty winds, and blowing snow are expected. Locations: south coast of Newfoundland, and the southern Avalon Peninsula. Total snowfall: 10 to 20 cm. Maximum wind gusts: easterly 60 to 80 km/h. Time span: Thursday night through Friday. Remarks: Snow will begin over southwestern Newfoundland on Thursday evening and spread to the southern Avalon by late Thursday night. Visibilities will deteriorate as strengthening winds combine with the fresh snowfall to create blowing snow. Conditions will improve from west to east Friday afternoon and evening as the snow tapers off. Travel could become difficult. If you must travel, be prepared for delays and allow extra time to reach your destination. Motorists should be prepared for winter driving conditions. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NLstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #NLwx.
