Wave height forecasts for Newfoundland issued by Environment Canada
at 6:00 a.m. NDT Saturday 5 September 2026 for today tonight and
Sunday.
The next scheduled forecast will be issued at 6:00 p.m. NDT.

Forecast values are combined wind wave and swell heights. Highest
waves may be more than twice forecast values. Wave heights may vary
considerably due to shoreline and depth effects.

Strait of Belle Isle.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 Sunday evening.

Northeast Gulf.
Seas 1 to 2 metres except 2 to 3 over northwestern sections. Seas
building to 2 to 3 late overnight and to 3 to 4 Sunday evening.

Gulf - Port au Port.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 this morning except 3 to 4 over
southwestern sections tonight.

Southwest Coast.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 5 near noon then subsiding to 2
to 3 Sunday morning. Seas subsiding to 1 to 2 Sunday evening.

South Coast.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 this morning and to 3 to 5 this
afternoon. Seas subsiding to 2 to 3 Sunday morning.

East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south.
Seas 1 metre or less building to 1 to 2 this morning and to 2 to 3
this afternoon. Seas building to 3 to 5 this evening.

East Coast - north of Cape St. Francis.
Seas 1 metre or less building to 1 to 2 this morning and to 2 to 3
this evening. Seas building to 3 to 5 late overnight.

Northeast Coast.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 this evening and to 3 to 5
Sunday afternoon.

Belle Isle Bank.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 Sunday evening.

Funk Island Bank.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 late overnight and to 3 to 5
Sunday morning.

Northern Grand Banks.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 this evening and to 3 to 5 late
overnight.

Southeastern Grand Banks.
Seas 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 this afternoon except 3 to 5
over eastern sections overnight and Sunday.

Southwestern Grand Banks.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 5 this morning becoming 2 to 3
this afternoon except 3 to 5 over northern sections tonight.
