Technical marine synopsis for Newfoundland issued by Environment
Canada at 3:00 a.m. NDT Friday 24 April 2026 for today tonight
and Saturday.
The next scheduled synopsis will be issued at 10:00 a.m. NDT.

Systems position.
At 3:00 a.m. NDT today low 985 mb located southwest of the Grand
Banks.
By 3:00 a.m. NDT Saturday low 981 mb located over the eastern
Grand Banks.

At 3:00 a.m. NDT today dissipating low 1005 mb located over the
Quebec Lower North Shore.

Canada at 2:59 A.M. NDT Friday 24 April 2026.

A low pressure system southwest of the Grand Banks will slowly move
northeastward to lie over the Southeastern Grand Banks by this
evening and meander over the Northern Grand Banks on Saturday.
Gale to storm force easterlies to northeasterlies will spread over
southeastern waters north of the low today. Winds will shift to gale
to storm force southwesterlies to northwesterlies as the low passes.
On Saturday, winds northwest of the low will strengthen to strong to
gale force northerlies to northeasterlies.

Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
the Southern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for Strait of
Belle Isle, East Coast - Cape St. Francis and south, Northeast Coast,
Belle Isle Bank, and Northern Grand Banks.

Canada at 7:52 P.M. NDT Thursday 23 April 2026.

A deepening low pressure system south of the Laurentian Fan will
approach the district from the southwest to lie over the Southeastern
Grand Banks by Friday evening. Gale to storm force easterlies to
northeasterlies will spread over southeastern waters north of the low
on Friday. Winds will shift to gale to storm force southwesterlies to
northwesterlies as the low passes.

Marine interests are advised that a storm warning is in effect for
Southwestern Grand Banks. Gale warnings are in effect for East Coast
- Cape St. Francis and south, Northern Grand Banks, and Southeastern
Grand Banks.
