Ice forecasts for the Gulf of St. Lawrence issued by Environment
Canada at 10:00 a.m. EDT Wednesday 12 March 2025 for today tonight
and Thursday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

First ice edge estimated from New Brunswick near 4523N 6527W to
4515N 6515W to 4430N 6615W to Nova Scotia near 4407N 6612W. Sea ice
east of the ice edge.

Second ice edge estimated from Nova Scotia near 4519N 6058W to 4545N
5800W to 4715N 5700W to Newfoundland near 4707N 5538W. Sea ice north
of the ice edge.

Pointe-des-Monts to Anticosti - northern half.
1 tenth new ice except 7 tenths new ice in the extreme western
section. Consolidated grey-white ice in a few bays.

Pointe-des-Monts to Anticosti - southern half.
Open water except 2 tenths new ice in the western section.

Pointe a Michel to Pointe-des-Monts.
3 tenths new ice. Consolidated grey-white ice in a few bays.

Tadoussac to Pointe a Michel.
2 tenths new ice except 7 tenths new ice including 2 tenths
grey-white ice in the extreme southwestern section. Consolidated
grey-white ice along parts of the coasts.

Fundy.
Open water except 7 tenths grey-white ice in the extreme
northeastern section.

Grand Manan
Lurcher
Southwestern Shore
Eastern Shore
Halifax Harbour and Approaches.
Open water.

Browns Bank
Georges Bank
Lahave Bank
West Scotian Slope
Sable
East Scotian Slope
Laurentian Fan.

Banquereau.
Open water except 2 tenths first-year ice in the extreme
northwestern section.

Fourchu.
Open water except consolidated grey-white ice in a few sheltered
bays.

Cabot Strait - southern half.
2 tenths first-year ice.

Cabot Strait - northern half.
Open water except 2 tenths first-year ice in the extreme southern
section.

Northumberland Strait - eastern half.
4 tenths new ice including 1 tenth first-year ice except 9 plus
tenths grey-white ice including 4 tenths first-year ice along parts
of the coasts.

Northumberland Strait - western half.
3 tenths new ice including 1 tenth first-year ice except 9 tenths
grey-white ice including 4 tenths first-year ice along parts of the
Prince Edward Island coast.

Gulf - Magdalen - eastern half.
Open water except 9 tenths first-year ice along the coast of Cape
Breton Island. Consolidated first-year ice along parts of the
coasts.

Gulf - Magdalen - western half.
Open water except 3 tenths new ice including 1 tenth first-year ice
in the southwestern section. Consolidated first-year ice along parts
of the coasts.

Chaleur - Miscou.
5 tenths new ice including 2 tenths grey-white ice except 7 tenths
grey ice including 2 tenths first-year ice in eastern Chaleur Bay.
Consolidated first-year ice along parts of the coasts.

Anticosti - eastern half.
Open water except 7 tenths new ice including a trace of first-year
ice in the extreme northeastern section. Consolidated first-year ice
in a few bays.

Anticosti - western half.
Open water except 2 tenths new ice along parts of the coasts.
Consolidated first-year ice in a few bays.

Gulf - Port au Port.
Open water except 9 tenths new ice including 1 tenth first-year ice
near Quebec coast. Consolidated first-year ice along parts of the
Quebec coast.

Northeast Gulf.
Open water except 8 tenths new ice including 3 tenths first-year ice
in the northwestern section. Consolidated first-year ice along parts
of the coasts.

Southwest Coast.
Open water except 1 tenth first-year ice in the extreme southwestern
section. Consolidated grey ice in a few bays.

      • Use the ↑ Up key to select the link above. If none are selected, it will select the first link.
      • Use the ↓ Down key to select the link below. If none are selected, it will select the last link.
      • Use the Page Up key to move a selection up in the list.
      • Use the Page Down key to move a selection down in the list.
  • Restore default list
