Ice forecasts for the Western and Central Arctic issued by
Environment Canada at 10:00 a.m. EDT Tuesday 22 October 2024 for
today tonight and Wednesday.
The next scheduled forecasts will be issued at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.

First ice edge estimated from Northwest Territories near 6949N
12157W to 7054N 12812W to 7034N 12929W to 6947N 13658W to 7017N
14100W then westward. Sea ice south of the ice edge.

Second ice edge estimated from 7258N 14100W to 7229N 13959W to 7200N
12615W to 7055N 12315W to Victoria Island near 7136N 11854W. Sea ice
north of the ice edge.

Third ice edge estimated from Victoria Island near 6900N 10148W to
6815N 9900W to 6750N 10200W to Nunavut near 6809N 10323W. Sea ice
northeast then south of the ice edge.

Prince Alfred.
2 tenths new ice except 9 tenths grey ice including 1 tenth
multi-year ice in the northern section.

Yukon Coast.
1 tenth new ice except 8 tenths new ice including 3 tenths grey ice
in the extreme eastern section.

Mackenzie.
Bergy water except 9 tenths new ice including 4 tenths grey ice
along the coast.

Tuktoyaktuk - northern half.
Bergy water.

Tuktoyaktuk - southern half.
Open water except 9 tenths new ice including 4 tenths grey ice along
parts of the coast.

Baillie.
Open water except 2 tenths new ice along parts of the coast.

Banks.

Bergy water except 1 tenth second-year ice in sheltered bays along
parts of the coast of Baffin Island.

Bergy water except 2 tenths new ice in the extreme northern section.

North Mackenzie.
Bergy water.

West Prince Alfred.
8 tenths new ice including 3 tenths grey ice except 9 tenths grey
ice including 2 tenths multi-year ice in the northern section.

Northwest Beaufort.
5 tenths new ice including 2 tenths grey ice except 9 tenths grey
ice including 2 tenths multi-year ice in the extreme northeastern
section.

    • Go to the desired page on the site, open the Weather shortcuts menu and click on the "Add to shortcuts" button
    • Page name will display in the "Add this page" window, the name can be changed by highlighting the text and entering the desired name

    • Click on the "Close" button to save the change
  • Keyboard navigation
    • Use the Tab key to move to a button or link
    • Use the Enter key to click on buttons or links
    • Organize shortcuts navigation
      • Use the ↑ Up key to select the link above. If none are selected, it will select the first link.
      • Use the ↓ Down key to select the link below. If none are selected, it will select the last link.
      • Use the Page Up key to move a selection up in the list.
      • Use the Page Down key to move a selection down in the list.
  • Restore default list
