SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

Snow over portions of southwestern Saskatchewan beginning tonight and lasting through Thanksgiving Monday. A passing cold front will bring northerly winds and a chance of snow to the higher terrain of the Cypress Hills on Sunday. Accumulations of up to 5 cm are possible. Heading into the week, a more significant low pressure system will develop in Montana on Sunday night and will spread accumulating snow across the region into Monday. This system may bring up to 10 cm of snow for areas south of the Trans-Canada Highway by Monday night, but confidence on the strength and precise placement of this snow remains low. Travel conditions could deteriorate quickly due to a combination of accumulating snow, sudden poor visibilities, and ground temperatures hovering near the freezing mark. As the system progresses eastward toward the Manitoba border, temperatures will be warmer and more of the precipitation is expected to fall as rain. When skies clear on Tuesday, the fallen snow will swiftly melt away as temperatures rebound for the remainder of the week. Watch for updated forecasts and any potential weather alerts as the event nears. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to SKstorm@ec.gc.ca, call 1-800-239-0484 or post reports on social media using #SKStorm.
