Freezing rain on Thursday What: A period of a few hours of freezing rain possibly giving 2 to 4 millimetres of ice accretion is expected. When: Thursday afternoon Additional information: Precipitation will begin as snow early Thursday morning. The snow will gradually change to freezing rain then to rain late in the day. Snowfall accumulations may reach up to 15 centimetres over some areas before the freezing rain arrives. Quickly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
