SNOW SQUALL WATCH

Snow Squall Watch in effect for:
  • Green Bay - White Bay

A prolonged period of snow squalls producing blizzard-like conditions is expected. Total snowfall: locally ranging from 5 to 20 cm where snow squalls set up and are most persistent. Maximum wind gusts: westerly to southwesterly 60 km/h. Locations: Green Bay - White Bay and Buchans and the interior. Time span: today and tonight. Remarks: Conditions are favourable for the development of intense snow squalls. Visibility may be reduced to near zero for extended periods as strong west to southwesterly winds accompany the squalls. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NLstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #NLwx.
