Another wind storm today, less intense than the last one. When: This evening. Where: West Vancouver Island. Peak wind gusts: 90-110 km/h from the southeast. Additional Information: Southeast winds gusting up to 110 km/h will continue this evening as a deep low pressure brushes Vancouver Island. Strong winds will ease overnight or early Saturday morning. While this low is not as intense as the major storm that affected the area this past Tuesday and Wednesday, and peak wind speeds are forecast to be generally lower, strong winds may still cause damage and disruptions, and slow down clean up efforts. Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
