High northeasterly winds reaching up to 90 kilometres per hour are expected Saturday afternoon and evening. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. STORM SURGE WARNING

Storm Surge Warning in effect for:
  • Coastline from St-Georges-de-Malbaie to Ste-Thérèse-de-Gaspé incl. Percé

Higher than normal water levels with large waves are expected near the coast on Saturday evening. The combination of - strong to high northeast winds - a major surge - and a period of medium tidal range could produce breaking sea conditions along the coast on Saturday evening in some areas of the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. Additional information: A major low pressure system will intensify over the Maritimes on Saturday. Buildings located in areas prone to storm surges could be flooded. Flooding is possible along the coastline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.

What: - Heavy rainfall possible near the shoreline. - Significant snowfall expected over higher terrain. - Strong to high northeasterly winds. - Risk of storm surge. When: From Saturday to Sunday. The strongest winds and the risk of storm surge are expected on Saturday evening. Additional information: a low pressure system will affect the Maritimes this weekend. However, precipitation amounts and maximum wind strength may vary depending on the track and intensity of the weather system.
