Wind Warning in effect for:
  • Percé area

High northeasterly winds reaching up to 90 kilometres per hour are expected Saturday afternoon and evening. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. STORM SURGE WARNING

Storm Surge Warning in effect for:
  • Coastline from St-Georges-de-Malbaie to Ste-Thérèse-de-Gaspé incl. Percé

Higher than normal water levels with large waves are expected near the coast on Saturday evening. The combination of - strong to high northeast winds - a major surge - and a period of medium tidal range could produce breaking sea conditions along the coast on Saturday evening in some areas of the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. Additional information: A major low pressure system will intensify over the Maritimes on Saturday. Buildings located in areas prone to storm surges could be flooded. Flooding is possible along the coastline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.

Snow and rain on tap for the weekend. What: - Rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres near the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. - Snowfall amounts near 10 centimetres over higher elevations. - Strong northeasterly winds. When: from this evening through Sunday evening. The strongest winds are expected Saturday late in the day. Additional information: precipitation type will switch between rain and snow depending on elevation and proximity to the shoreline. Higher terrain will mostly receive snow while coastal regions will primarily see rain. However, even the shoreline may see periods of snow, depending on local temperature variations. Snowfall amounts may also vary greatly. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
