Rain, heavy at times is expected. Locations: Nova Scotia. Total Rainfall: 25 to 50 mm. Time Span: tonight into Tuesday afternoon. Remarks: Rain will intensify tonight across southwestern Nova Scotia and move east overnight, reaching the eastern half of the province by Tuesday morning. The highest accumulations are expected to occur along the Atlantic coast on Tuesday. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. Freezing rain is expected or occurring. Locations: Inverness County - Mabou and north and Victoria County. Freezing rain duration: another 2 to 4 hours. Remarks: Freezing rain will change to periods of rain early this evening. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
