Rain, heavy at times is expected. Locations: Nova Scotia. Total Rainfall: 25 to 50 mm. Time Span: tonight into Tuesday afternoon. Remarks: Rain will intensify late this evening across southwestern Nova Scotia and move east overnight, reaching the eastern half of the province by Tuesday morning. The highest accumulations are expected to occur along the Atlantic coast on Tuesday. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. FREEZING RAIN WARNING

Freezing Rain Warning in effect for:
  • Pictou County

Freezing rain is expected or occurring. Locations: Northern Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton Island. Total freezing rain amounts: possibly up to 5 mm. Freezing rain duration: 4 to 6 hours. Remarks: A warm front sweeping across the region is bringing a period of freezing rain this morning. Freezing rain will then transition to rain late this morning over mainland Nova Scotia, and into this afternoon for Cape Breton. Freezing rain may linger into this evening over the Cape Breton Highlands. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
