FREEZING RAIN WARNING

Freezing Rain Warning in effect for:
  • Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans

Freezing rain expected tonight into early Thursday morning. What: Freezing rain with ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm on some surfaces. When: Tonight through early Thursday morning. Additional information: This freezing rain event will not be nearly as significant as the ice storm from this past weekend. Snow and ice pellets will advance northeastward this evening before transitioning to freezing rain tonight. Prior to the transition to freezing rain, snowfall amounts up to 5 cm may occur over some locations. Easterly winds gusting to near 50 km/h may exacerbate any tree damage. As temperatures rise above the freezing mark, freezing rain will transition to rain overnight into early Thursday morning. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Rain, heavy at times is possible. The ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall. What: Rain, at times heavy. Total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm. When: This evening through Thursday morning. Additional information: A wintry mix of precipitation will transition to rain through tonight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark. Rain will end from west to east Thursday morning. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
