Major ice storm this weekend. What: Prolonged period of freezing rain. Significant ice accretion. Total ice accretion amounts of 10 to 20 mm, with amounts in excess of 25 mm possible. Widespread power outages. Icy and slippery conditions. When: Now into Sunday afternoon. Additional Information: Significant freezing rain is expected again tonight. Freezing rain will change to rain on Sunday as temperatures rise above zero degrees. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
